Al-Yasa (Elisha)

اليسع

Successor of Ilyas among Bani Israil

Symbolic scene from the story of Al-Yasa (Elisha)
Revivals need finishers, not just founders

Al-Yasa is mentioned twice in the Quran, each time in a roll call of the honored: “And Ismail and Al-Yasa and Yunus and Lut, each We preferred over the worlds” (Quran 6:86), and “remember Ismail and Al-Yasa and Dhul-Kifl; all are among the excellent” (38:48).

Tradition holds that he continued the mission of Ilyas among Bani Israil after him, holding the line of Tawhid in a nation that kept wandering from it. Like Idris and Dhul-Kifl, his brief mention is itself the lesson: the chain of guidance ran through many hands that history barely recorded, and every unrecorded link was still preferred by Allah “over the worlds.”

The lesson to keep

Lesson: Carrying the mission forward matters more than being remembered for it.
